Takahama Town

Wakasa Wada Beach

Wakasa Wada Beach boasts some of the best transparency and beauty among Japanese beaches. The white soft sandy beach, blue sea and sky, and the greenery of the mountains seen on the opposite shore create a beautiful contrast. It is a beautiful and highly safe beach representing the Wakasa region, meeting 33 international certification criteria such as water quality and safety.

Although it is a beach bustling with sea bathing in summer, the scenic views of white sandy beaches and green pine forests are popular even in the off-season. It is also a recommended place as a photo spot to stop by during a drive.

The Sea is Blue, the Sandy Beach is White, and the Sunset Shines Beautifully

Wakasa Wada Beach is very popular as a swimming beach with a shallow sea of high transparency and white sandy beach. In 2016, it became the first in Japan to acquire the "Blue Flag," an international environmental certification for beaches, marinas, and tourism boats implemented by the international NGO FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education).

It is a safe beach where water rescue personnel and lifesavers are stationed because it is shallow, and many children enjoy swimming during the summer high season. Takahama Town promotes the wearing of life jackets for children for safety, and rentals (paid) are available at the beach huts (sea houses) of Wakasa Wada Beach.

Sunset and Mt. Aoba Selected for "Japan's 100 Best Sunsets"

It also has a reputation for the beauty of its sunset. It has been selected for "Japan's 100 Best Sunsets" chosen by the NPO Association for Making Hometowns of Sunsets and Sunrises in the Japanese Archipelago, and at dusk, the setting sun sinking into the horizon and the reflecting shining sea play a beautiful harmony.

The view of the white beach and Mt. Aoba, which has the alias "Wakasa Fuji," across the sea is scenic, and strolling in the off-season is also popular. There are many barbecue sites and campgrounds nearby, and the Wakasa Takahama Fireworks Festival is also held in summer.
